Hon. Peter Lam Both has challenged his treatment during the selection of SPLM convention delegates in Upper Nile, alleging that senior colleagues targeted him over earlier disagreements. In a video supplied to South Sudan Press, he says the grievance will be taken to the party chairman. His allegations have not been independently substantiated.

The specific dispute described in the recording concerns a seat in the delegation to the SPLM convention. It should not be reported as proof that he lost a parliamentary primary, was disqualified from the national election or resigned from the party. The original date and location of the recording have not been independently established.

Lam Both says the state congress had selected party officials and Liberation Council members before reaching convention representation. He alleges that colleagues opposed forwarding his name despite support from his payam. He identifies senior party figures, including Simon Kun Puoch and Secretary-General Akol Paul Kordit, in his account of the dispute.

He says an effort to resolve the disagreement through another seat offered within Ulang County was rejected by the high-level committee. Those are his descriptions of the process. SSP has not obtained the delegate allocation, committee minutes or a written ruling that would establish how the relevant rules were applied.

“This is an unfair process. This is undemocratic,” he says in the recording. He describes the treatment as personal targeting and says he would rather step aside than divide Ulang members. That statement should not be interpreted as a confirmed resignation from any other office.

The party’s September announcement presented internal selection as a means of strengthening democratic structures. A response to this grievance would need to explain the convention allocation, eligibility and appeal procedure. No specific reply from the officials concerned was available in the material reviewed for this edition; SSP has not contacted them on the publisher’s behalf.

The supplied clip is embedded in full below. A machine-assisted transcript was reviewed for the clear substance of the remarks; uncertain phrases are not quoted. The allegation, its motive and the validity of the committee’s decision remain unresolved pending records and a response.
