Editorial Policy

The standards used to separate verified facts, developing claims, analysis and opinion.

Verification

Material factual claims should be supported by attributable evidence, authoritative records or multiple credible sources where feasible.

Unverified material

Social-media footage, anonymous claims and circulating documents are labelled as unverified until authenticity and context can be established.

News and opinion

Opinion is clearly labelled and does not represent a newsroom finding. Analysis may interpret established facts but should make its reasoning and evidentiary basis clear.

Right of reply

People or institutions facing significant allegations should be given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication whenever practicable.

Corrections

Material errors should be corrected promptly and transparently.
